331) Consultant
Consultants whose practice includes the areas of material handling and logistics possess varying degrees of technical expertise, ranging from business process advice and design to detailed engineering design services that lead to equipment and systems being bid and procured. Although a consulting firm may also perform system integration services, it is more the exception than the rule. See also Systems Integrator .
332) AIAG Pallet
A pallet that meets meets the recommendations of the AIAG, Automotive Industry Action Group. Recommendations concern size, dimensions, fork entry capability and load capacity.
333) Attached lid container
Just as the term denotes, any material handling container (steel or plastic) that includes a lid that is attached to container and is an integral part of the design and function of the container.
334) Bulk bin
Plastic or metal bins that are designed to handle larger or "bulk" quantities of materials or merchandise. Bulk bins tend to large in size, relative to other types of bins, and are generally designed to be higher capacity in terms of load capabilities.
335) Conductive container
Container that is permanently static dissipative.
336) Cross docking
The process of moving merchandise from the receiving dock to shipping for shipping without placing it first into storage locations. Information regarding the merchandise will be entered into the inventory and a transaction for shipping posted within one posting cycle, e.g. one day.
337) ESD container
Any container that is designed to dissipate electrostatic discharge via it's material composition or configuration.
338) ESD tote
A tote or bin that is designed to dissipate electrostatic discharge via it's composition materials or configuration.
339) Grab-a-block pallet
A pallet used in distribution operations wherein the center stringer or block is grabbed by a center clamp to steady the pallet enabling goods to be stacked on it at an elevated height. These types of pallets may be made of wood or plastic.
340) Injection molded container
Plastic material is introduced in pellet form into a "hopper" positioned at the top of a machine and forcing it along a horizontal chamber or "barrel" of an extruder by means of the rotation of a screw.
The plastic material is heated as it moves through the barrel so when it reaches an open cavity, it is a molten mass ready to assume the configuration of the mold.
The mold is closed and pressure is applied to form the container. Once the pallet is cooled and taken from the mold, it can be further processed into secondary operations such as painting, trimming or fastening.
341) Label placard
The label placard acts as a label holding device that allows the user to label and relabel containers, racks and pallets.
342) Manually handled container
Containers designed to be handled by hand and not by machine.
343) Mesh container
Often referred to as a wire mesh container, this material handling device is made from welded metal wire mesh and possesses a substructure to give the container strength and rigidity.
A container that is made of woven, knit or knotted material of open texture with evenly spaced holes.
344) Metric container
A container which has its dimensions and capacities expressed in metric terms. These containers are often designed to accommodate metric size and weight materials or goods, i.e, a one metric ton capacity container as opposed to a one imperial ton capacity container.
345) NASFM
