Vertical Reciprocating Conveyer (VRC) Subcommittee

The Vertical Reciprocating Conveyer (VRC) Subcommittee of the Conveyor & Sortation Systems industry group is comprised of the industry’s leading suppliers of material lifts intended to meet the safety requirements of ASME B20.1 – Safety Standard for Conveyors and Related Equipment. These members design, manufacture, and install VRCs worldwide for use in a wide variety of industrial, commercial, and institutional operating environments.

Odera Chidume, Texas Tech University

The $5,000 2023 CSS Honor Scholarship has been awarded to Odera Chidume, a senior Industrial Engineering student at Texas Tech University. He has always had a passion for mathematics and problem solving which has led him to pursue a degree in Industrial Engineering. Odera is active in the student chapter of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) at his school. After graduation, he plans to join the industry workforce.

Tate Brungardt, Kansas State University

The $2,500 2023 CSS Honor Scholarship has been awarded to Tate Brungardt, a senior Industrial Engineering student at Kansas State University. He is the Treasurer of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) chapter at his school, and he is an Eagle Scout. He is passionate about improving processes and systems. Last summer he interned at Spirit AeroSystems where he facilitated a lean improvement project and conducted many cost reduction studies. Tate holds a Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification. He currently works at Monarch Inventory Services as the Senior Lead-Coordinator. He plans to enter the workforce after graduation.
