1) Robotic Storage Retrieval system (RSR)

A Robotic Storage Retrieval solution (RSR) storage and retrieval system consists of automated equipment that stores and retrieves products automatically to/from various styles of racking systems. The robotic retrieval system stores the product in a compact manner when compared to more traditional forms of storage. The automated equipment that stores and retrieves product can be in many forms/configurations and is typically under some type of computer direction. Heights for these systems can vary from low to in excess of 100+ feet.

2) Conveyor & Sortation Systems (CSS) Industry Group

The Conveyor & Sortation Systems (CSS) members are the Industry’s leading providers of conveyors and sortation systems. They design, fabricate and install conveyor and sortation systems worldwide and in virtually every major manufacturing and distribution sector. CSS prepares and distributes educational and promotional materials regarding the proper application and benefits of conveyor and sortation system solutions.

3) Electrification and Controls Manufacturers Association (ECMA) Industry Group

Electrification and Controls Manufacturers Association (ECMA) members are the Industry’s leading suppliers of electrification and controlling devices. They supply solutions worldwide and in virtually every major manufacturing and distribution sector.

4) Protective Guarding Manufacturers Association (ProGMA) Industry Group

Protective Guarding Manufacturing Association member companies meet regularly to review, discuss, and revise the standards for design and performance of protective guarding products used in the material handling industry. ProGMA member companies are committed to the development, maintenance, and publishing of industry standard specifications for these systems.

5) Slip sheet

Often a piece of cardboard or plastic sheeting on which a load is placed and is moved/removed with a special fork lift equipped like forks with rollers and/or push pull attachment.

6) Push Pull Equipment

Hydraulic fork lift truck attachment which can be used for palletless handling applications. The pushpull attachment needs to be used in combination with a slipsheets. Another attachment for palletless handling operations are special lift truck forks which contain two layers of rollers.

7) Telescoping lift truck forks (hydraulic forks)

Hydraulic lift truck forks that can be used for one sided loading, double-deep stacking and as hydraulic fork extensions.

8) Self-Guided Vehicle

A Self-Guided Vehicle (SGV) is an autonomous, self-directed robotic delivery system for the movement of product in diverse environments. An SGV operates independently to navigate around fixed and moving obstructions without the need for an external guide path network or sensors, such as buried wires or mounted magnetic or optical strips. Instead, an SGV uses on-board sensory inputs and navigational software to dynamically plot a path as the robot moves to each goal or task destination. See also AGV or Automatic Guided Vehicle  or AGVS .

10) Pop-up rollers

Rollers which rise up between chain or roller conveyors to move the item off the conveyor to the desired location.

11) Push driver

A computer-controlled arm that can push items at a right angle from a conveyor line to the desired location.

12) Rake puller

A device in which tines pop up between conveyor rollers and pull the item accross the conveyor to the desired location.

13) Safety rail

Guard rail with posts and rails erected to prevent individuals from coming in contact with hazards.

14) Single deep selective rack

Rack structure which allows loads to be stored one unit deep on either side of an aisle.

15) Slat conveyor

A conveyor employing one or more endless chains to which non-overlapping, non-interlocking, spaced slats are attached.
