451) Molded pallet

A pallet formed  in a mold and made from plastic, wood particles or wood flakes.

452) Stacking pallet

A pallet constructed in such a manner as to allow one pallet complete with load to be placed on another without damage to the lower unit load.  This is generally achieved by utilizing a superstructure within the pallet.

453) Double wing pallet

A pallet constructed in such a way as to have the top deck extending out from opposite sides.

454) Base pallet

1)Utilized to form the base for a larger group of pallets or a larger structure.2) A randomly selected pallet utilized to determine the strength or durability of a group of pallets.

455) Bin pallet

A four-sided superstructure that is mounted on a pallet base, with or without a cover.  Also known as a box or container bin pallet.

456) Captive pallet

A pallet which is designed and dedicated to a given process, system or location/facility.  Not intended to be exchanged.

457) Block pallet

A pallet designed with blocks of material between the pallet decks or beneath the top deck that serve as strengtheners and posts.

458) Double deck pallet

A pallet constructed of both a top and bottom deck or deckboards.

459) End effector

An attachment, such as grippers, spraying nozzles, welding tooling, and measuring devices, connected to the mechanical portion of a manipulator, balancers, positioner, or robot.  Generally designed to fit a certain need and or lifting situation but is not restricted to single task.

460) Coil grab

Lifting devices, generally attached to a hoist or lift truck, which attach to a coil's OD via tongs or gripping mechanisms and enable the coil to be lifted without damage to the material.  May also be configured to "turn" the coil over or move it in directions other than vertical.

461) Tong grab

A lifting attachment usually used in conjunction with a hoist or forklift that utilizes a "scissors" action to grip a load for vertical lifting or transport.

462) Drum turner

An attachment to a fork truck, lift table or below-the-hook on a hoist that enables that piece of equipment to turn over drums for filling and emptying.

463) Spreader beam

A below-the-hook lifting device that utilizes two or more hooks (attaching devices) located along a beam and the spreader beam attaches to the hoist by means of a bail.  The spreader beam is used to handle long or wide load and serves to "spread" the load over more than one lifting point. Often used in conjunction with slings.

464) Bottom block

The device at the bottom of a hoist's lifting medium (chain/wire rope) through which the medium is reeved and supports the hook and/or an attachment.  May be stationary or rotating depending upon the requirements for the piece of lifting equipment.

465) Brake

A device, incorporated into material handling equipment, utilized to retard or stop the motion of that piece of equipment.  Often utilized in conjunction with the motor of that equipment or may be mechanical in nature, utilizing a "ratchet and pawl" configuration.
