1) Hybrid truck

Material handling vehicle which crosses several categories, in function, in power source, etc.

2) Institute of Caster and Wheel Manufacturers (ICWM) Industry Group

Institute of Caster and Wheel Manufacturers (ICWM) members are the Industry's leading suppliers of casters, wheels, and industrial trailer trucks, platform trucks and towline trucks. They supply caster and wheel solutions worldwide and in virtually every major manufacturing and distribution sector. The association was formed in 1933.

3) Identification solutions

Products such as placards, holders and nameplates that permanently or temporarily identify containers, racks, and pallets.

4) Gravity conveyor

Conveyor on which materials are moved by gravity or by a person, as opposed to a conveyor on which materials are moved with powered belts or rollers.

5) Information Technology

IT.  The use of automated data processing and telecommunications tools to enable a more rapid flow of information within a supply chain.

6) Hinged bridge

A hinged transition plate which is attached to the edge of the platform and used to bridge the gap between the platform and landing and/or truck bed.

7) Interlock

A device to prevent lift movement when the landing gate is not fully closed and to prevent the landing gate from being opened unless the lift platform is present at that landing.

8) Injection molded pallet

Plastic material is introduced in pellet form into a "hopper" positioned at the top of a machine and forcing it along a horizontal chamber or "barrel" of an extruder by means of the rotation of a screw.  The plastic material is heated as it moves through the barrel so when it reaches an open cavity, it is a molten mass ready to assume the configuration of the mold. The mold is closed and pressure is applied to form the pallet.  Once the pallet is cooled and taken from the mold, it can be further processed into secondary operations such as painting, trimming or fastening.

9) HDPE

High Density Polyethylene

10) Honeycombing

1. The practice of removing merchandise in pallet load quantities where the space is not exhausted in an orderly fashion. This results in inefficiencies due to the fact that the received merchandise may not be efficiently stored in the space which is created by the honey-combing. 2. The storing or withdrawal or supplies in a manner that results in vacant space that is not usable for storage of other items. 3.  Creation of unoccupied space resulting from withdrawal of unit loads.  This is one of the major hidden costs of warehousing.

11) Impact deflectors

A form of conveyor sortation device that utilizes a swing out arm to divert product from a conveying surface. This device does not actually contact the conveying surface, but literally impacts the side of the load bringing about a sideways change in direction to the left or right of the forward motion.

12) Impact diverters

A form of conveyor sortation device that utilizes a mechanically actuated push plate to divert a product from the conveying surface. This device does not actually contact the conveying surface, but literally impact the side of the load bringing about a sideways change in direction to the left or right of the forward motion.

13) In-line diverters

Moving surface or in-line diverters are an integral part of the main conveying surface and in all but one case pop up on controlled command, coming in direct contact with the underside conveying surface of the load.

14) Gravity wheel conveyor

Ideal for light duty handling requirements where the load is flat and smooth, gravity wheel conveyors support the load on a series of skate wheels mounted on a shaft in a frame. The conveyor sections can be either rigid (straight or curved) or flexible. In the latter case, the frame is actually an accordion frame capable of being expanded or curved, making it ideal for temporary applications such as the loading and unloading of over-the-road trucks.

15) Gravity roller conveyor

A conveyor which supports the load on a series of rollers with internal ball bearing rings mounted on axles at fixed intervals in a frame. Roller conveyors come in straight sections, curved sections and in various spur and merge sections.
