31) Record shelving

A shelving storage system to store files and records. The units are sized at the time of order to "fit" the parameters of the files and records to be stored. These shelving systems are generally closed on three sides and may have retractable or swing up and down opening covers, all to provide security, protection and cleanliness.

33) Integrated mezzanine

A mezzanine storage system built as an integral part of a building's structure. Generally put into the initial design of a building to serve a specific purpose. This type of mezzanine can utilize the building's structure for support and therein can incorporate wider span between support columns and thereby increasing the clear span of the system.

34) Modular drawer cabinet

Modular drawer cabinets make efficient use of storage space by providing secured enclosed storage for small or high value parts.  The operator has a clear view of all stored items as the drawers are withdrawn from the cabinet. An added value of modular drawers is that each drawer can be positioned or sub-divided into smaller storage cells.  Modular drawer cabinets, used extensively in tool cribs, parts supply rooms and maintenance areas, provide higher density, improved organization, more security and protection and a greater utilization of storage space. Such modular drawer cabinets may be wheeled or fixed in place.

35) Carts

Wheeled devices, generally made from plastic and/or metal, utilized to move items within a warehouse, distribution center or manufacturing facility.  Carts can be equipped with drawers, bins, trays or flat surfaces to secure items for transport and storage. Carts utilize casters as well as pneumatic and semi-pneumatic wheels.  See also Trays .

36) Modular drawers

Housed in cabinets (wheeled or stationary), modular drawers offer high density storage and retrieval of parts, tools, supplies instruments and equipment in commercial, industrial and institutional environments.  These drawers are capable of being partitioned and compartmentalized to segregate items in the drawer.

37) Material Handling

Material Handling is the movement, storage, control and protection of materials, goods and products throughout the process of manufacturing, distribution, consumption and disposal.  The focus is on the methods, mechanical equipment, systems and related controls used to achieve these functions. 38) Drive in rack

This type of rack utilizes upright frames, rails, and ties to allow a vehicle to enter a storage rack structure from one side only and pick up or deliver pallets on continuous rails.  Drive-in rack is used to address repetitive products and serves to take advantage of cubic space available for storage, when such unit loads do not lend themselves to block stacking.

39) Push back rack

Utilizing wheels in the rack structure, this rack system allows palletized goods and materials to be stored by being pushed up a gently graded ramp.  Stored materials are allowed to flow down the ramp to the aisle.  This rack configuration allows for deep storage a each rack level.

40) Stacking frames

Portable storage aids for attachment to pallets to enable stacking of unstable items two three or more units high.

41) Rack supported building

A complete independent storage rack system which is the basic structural system of a building.  A storage or warehouse facility in which storage rack functions as the structural support for the roof.

42) Pallet flow rack

May be considered back-to-back selective rack.  Inclined conveyor wheel sections are installed in the rack enabling back-loaded pallets are allowed to flow by gravity to the front or pick face.  Pallet flow rack is useful for the movement of fast-moving items and serves to increase density of storage and throughput.

43) Storage racks

A single or multi-level structural storage system that is utilized to support high stacking of single items or palletized loads.

44) Structural rack

Steel storage rack made from hot rolled steel shapes, generally conforming to the requirements of AISC, such as angle, beams or tubing.

45) Selective rack

Steel storage racks arranged in either single or back-to-back (double) rows.  Each of the rows offers a bay or number of bays in the down aisle direction.  Pallets are generally positioned side-by-side in the down-aisle direction at each level of the bay.  The advantage to this configuration of rack is that all pallets are accessible from the facing aisle.
