1) Reel racks

A storage rack configuration (one or more levels high) that is designed specifically to store reels of materials such as cable and cord.  The reels are "cradled" in the rack.

2) HDPE

High Density Polyethylene

3) Pop-up skewed wheel sorter

An in-line diverter conveyor that has wheels that pop up between the rollers of a powered roller conveyor or between belt conveyor segments and direct sorted items onto a powered take-away line. Fairly high speed sorting, in the range of 120 cases per minute, can be achieved.

4) Pop-up chain sorter

The change in conveying direction is limited to being perpendicular to the original flow. Such a system is not suited to high- speed sortation and is mainly used for a load transfer or simple directional changes. It is suited best to handling heavy loads such as full pallets.

5) Tray sorter

A high speed type of sorting conveyor with sorts in the 250 cases per minute range, this type consists of a continuously moving train of independent trays that move in a straight line and recirculate in either a horizontal or vertical (over and under) closed loop. At the proper moment, controls cause the tray to tilt to either side, thereby discharging the load to the desired take away lane.

6) Strapping

A load stabilizing and securing methods wherein a variety of materials can literally be used to wrap or tie down a load or individual item for movement and protection. These materials include cold rolled low and medium carbon steel, hot roller high tension steel, polyester, nylon and polypropylene. Each of these materials has special properties that need to be closely matched to the load requirement.

7) Dynamic storage system

A storage system that provides varying means of either mechanically moving storage locations or loads within the systems so as to increase storage density and/or to increase storage, retrieval and order picking throughput.

8) Side loader truck

An industrial truck with lifting capabilities and able to accommodate the narrowest of aisles, depending upon the model and type, all the way down to the 5 foot range. Trucks operating in this range are sometimes called very narrow aisle (VNA) trucks. With the exception of the platform type sideloader, the fork and/or the entire mast on a VNA style truck is capable of rotating or swiveling 90 degrees left or right within the aisle from the down aisle orientation. Some manufacturers have models that can stack in storage racks 10-12 pallets high.

9) Double deep rack

A racking system that is used where a greater storage density is required. It accommodates two pallet loads stacked back-to-back and requires special fork trucks called reach trucks.

10) Mezzanine

A stand alone structure constructed within an existing building or structure which is designed to maximize clear space under and above the mezzanine. Also referred to as a "free standing, wide span mezzanine", this type of mezzanine incorporates wide column spacing and high PSF (pounds per square foot) capacity. Usually engineered for a specific need

11) Free standing mezzanine

A stand alone mezzanine structure constructed within an existing building or structure which is designed to maximize clear space under and above the mezzanine. Also referred to as a "free standing, wide span mezzanine", this type of mezzanine incorporates wide column spacing and high PSF (pounds per square foot) capacity. Usually engineered for a specific need.

12) Modular drawer cabinet

Modular drawer cabinets make efficient use of storage space by providing secured enclosed storage for small or high value parts.  The operator has a clear view of all stored items as the drawers are withdrawn from the cabinet. An added value of modular drawers is that each drawer can be positioned or sub-divided into smaller storage cells.  Modular drawer cabinets, used extensively in tool cribs, parts supply rooms and maintenance areas, provide higher density, improved organization, more security and protection and a greater utilization of storage space. Such modular drawer cabinets may be wheeled or fixed in place.

13) Modular drawers

Housed in cabinets (wheeled or stationary), modular drawers offer high density storage and retrieval of parts, tools, supplies instruments and equipment in commercial, industrial and institutional environments.  These drawers are capable of being partitioned and compartmentalized to segregate items in the drawer.

14) Stacking frames

Portable storage aids for attachment to pallets to enable stacking of unstable items two three or more units high.

15) Pallet flow rack

May be considered back-to-back selective rack.  Inclined conveyor wheel sections are installed in the rack enabling back-loaded pallets are allowed to flow by gravity to the front or pick face.  Pallet flow rack is useful for the movement of fast-moving items and serves to increase density of storage and throughput.
